In 1991, Edisher Garakanidze along with his spouse, the linguist Nino Baghaturia founded the folklore-ethnographical studio “Amer-Imeri” for children. The main activity of the studio was based on the educational course “the study of the homeland,” specially created by Nino Baghaturia. The main purpose of this course is to bring up children as the harmonized people, who will love and dedicate their talents to the home country. This main goal is mostly implemented in the studio through the folk music.  A special atmosphere in the studio helps children to get closer to the customs of ancestors: learn the traditional children games, authentic songs and dances, as well as the Georgian history and ethnography, mythology, folk literature, church chanting and the bible. Children also have a chance to participate in the excursions and long-term expeditions in the different regions of Georgia. These trips help children to liven up the theoretical knowledge gained at the studio. To summarize, the studio gives an opportunity to be involved in complex studies of the Georgian folk heritage.
